Leading North Queensland mechanical and electrical contractor Peak ARE has teamed up with Aussie-owned ActronAir, delivering an Australian first in air-conditioning technology at Domain Central Townsville.
Stages one and two of the project involved the replacement of twenty-two air-conditioning units with newly released 70-96kW Variable Capacity Commercial (VCC) Split Ducted systems covering approximately 20,000m2 of retail space.
ActronAir Product Portfolio Manager Deepika Naicker said the VCC range, manufactured in Australia, is the latest in inverter compressor technology, designed to meet the unique demands of commercial spaces and deliver more efficient and cost-effective cooling.
The VCC lineup incorporates cutting edge features including Inverter compressors, EC Plug Fans, EC Condenser Fans and electronic expansion devices,” Ms Naicker said.
By integrating these advanced technologies, combined with the smart functionalities of our innovative ActronAir UNOPRO control boards, we are able to optimise the system to match the demand, dramatically reducing energy usage and costs,” she said.
Preliminary data collected by an independent consultant for stage one of the Domain Central upgrade demonstrated energy efficiency increased by 30%. It’s expected that figure will only rise as more units are upgraded and the system is optimised further.
Peak ARE Owner Brad Swaffer said it was a pleasure and a privilege to play a key role in the industry-leading project. This type of upgrade, with this new product range with advanced technology, has not been achieved before in Australia, let alone North Queensland or Townsville," Brad said.
"We have enjoyed a true collaboration with ActronAir where they have shared their expertise with us around the product capabilities and potential, and our team has used our experience and skill to help finetune the practicalities of installation onsite," he said.
"As a local business we understand how important it is to keep customers cool in the most efficient way possible. We are extremely proud to have brought a new era in air-conditioning to North Queensland and especially to one of the largest retail format centres in Queensland."
Domain Central Centre Manager Sandy Corbett said results so far are promising.
"We are thrilled with the energy efficiency results we have seen so far and look forward to continuing work with Peak ARE and ActronAir to roll out the next stage of the technology late this year” she said."
"The benefit to our retailers is very significant given most of their energy costs are related to the operation of air-conditioning units.
"On top of sourcing Aussie-owned supplier ActronAir, it was important to us to involve as many local businesses as possible across the project,” she said. "To date, more than 85 workers have been involved on site and off.
"Together, we are committed to delivering a project that will forge the way for more energy efficient cooling, not only in Townsville, but across Queensland and Australia."
